What Is Covered By The Warranty?

When you purchase a vehicle, you want some type of protection in case something goes wrong with the car. A vehicle warranty protects you against problems. You will notice that there are two basic types of warranties available. Cars normally have a powertrain or a bumper-to-bumper warranty.

A powertrain warranty covers those items on the car that give power to the wheels and make the car go down the road. The engine, transmission and water pump are covered in a powertrain warranty. Normal wear items like belts are not covered. The electrical system, audio system and other items are not covered.

A bumper-to-bumper warranty is sometimes called a comprehensive warranty. These warranties cover everything a powertrain warranty covers and more. Virtually all items on the car except fabrics and wear items are covered. Bumper-to-bumper warranties don't cover a vehicle for as long as a powertrain warranty.
